Modern Fireplace For Small Interiors

The Curva Fireplace from Jan des Bouvrie looks like a burning modern phone. Okay, maybe not quite like that. But it has this incredible shape that seems to make you imediately asociate it with something.

It seems like the perfect decision when choosing a chimney for small interiors. Its mere sight can make one very warm.

Ex-iles, An Interactive Medium Between The Real World And The Virtual One

An interactive pool of 5 by 2 meters and only 20 cm deep, Ex-iles was designed by Naziha Mestaoui and Yacine Ait Kaci. The interactive pool is being exhibited at the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Seville starting this October.

The purpose of this project is to create a connection between the real world and the virtual one. It works as follows: when a “volunteer” steps on the “real island” (the white circle), signals are sent throughout the pool creating a game of shadows, lights and sounds (the response of the virtual world).

3D Walpapers from Hanna Nyman

Hanna Nyman is a textile designer from Stockholm. Closely related to her passion for origami, designing three-dimensional wallpapers is also very much Hanna’s thing.

The wallpapers that you see in the pictures are specially created to interact with the user. That is why the flowers are not pealed off at first. Each owner can do that for himself, achieving a new design for each wall.

For more wallpaper models and for getting in contact with the designer, you can visit Hanna’s website.

Geometrical Lighting

Peter Straka, founder of the lighting manufacturer KAIA, is also the designer of the LUM collection, that you can see in the pictures above.

Not your average lighting set, the LUM collection has four main points of interest: a wall lamp that you can also use as a ceiling lamp, a floor lamp, a pendant lamp and a table lamp.

KAIA best describes these designs: “LUM creates an array of stars, rectangular forms and other attractive geometric shapes, depending on the perspective of the viewer. The lamp also conjures up an equally atmospheric interplay of light and shadow.”

The Next Generation House, Not So Homey

Next Generation House is a concept thought of and created by Sou Fujimoto Architects. It was inspired by the Japanese mind game Jenga that involves tower building.

What you see in the pictures is a 13′x13′x13′ cube made out of cedar logs. This is also the reason why it strongly considered not to be eco-friendly.

However, due to its structure, the building allows you to be very creative when it comes to sleeping, eating and storing your stuff.

You have to admit the place doesn’t really inspire comfort, but since it is especially designed for a weekend out, maybe it will be happily embraced by some people.
