Clay Furniture from Maarten Bass

Maarten Bass is an interior designer from Holland and he`s well known by his irregular furniture ideas or maybe we should call them ’strange’.  Clay furniture is made of synthetic Clay, with a metal “skeleton” inside to reinforce the structure. Every piece is handmade  and without using any models, it keeps the unique design.

Here you will find more about it.

Glass Sliding Door

The range of Glass Sliding Doors from Albed are an elegant way to separate different rooms without completely losing sight of things.

Made from aluminum and glass, the doors seem to create more space and to bring more light into any interior.

A very practical design idea.

Paper Clip Chair, Fun To Hang Around

A nice design idea and a practical one also. A chair that folds and then can be hung wherever after usage . Inspired by the simple design of a papre, clip, “Attach” is made by simply using a wooden board on top aof aluminium holders.

The sad part however is that this chair might prove to be more fun to hang around than sit on it due to the fact that it has no back rest.

All in all, its high portability and small volume makes it a furniture item worth considering.

I’ll Have A Cervantes Vase With a Don Quixote To Go, Please

These unusual vases come from Laura Cahill. They are made from second hand books that the designer bought . True or not, she says that “one of the most common unwanted objects that can be found at either charity shops, car boot sales and sometimes on the streets are books” so the decided to transform these old books into “desirable objects such as furniture, lighting and ornaments”.

All in all the idea is very creative and the outcome looks exceptional. But but… why would someone do that to books? No matter how old and up for sale they are.

Knitted Cups

Here’s a really fun design idea and a creative way to impress your guests.

Knitted China is not all that hard to do. You could even make some yourself, with a little bit of practice. However, once it’s done, you may be a little reluctant to serve coffee in them. So we suggest tea. Heck, boiled water will do.

All in all, they look great. Not that practical though.

Created by Dutch designer Madieke Fleuren.

Grenade Furniture won’t explode

This furniture item presents a tiny shock factor.

Although quite interesting looking, it could probably never be taken seriously when deciding what furniture should someone put in their bedroom.

The “practical” grenade is designed by Los Carpinteros, who also have some more interesting work displayed on the official site.
