Local River is a concept for a “refrigerator-aquarium” by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur.

The idea of the project is that it can breed fish and can grow vegetables for human consumption.

This is possible due to the exchange and interdependence of plants and fish.

Bet you never thought about birds and fish coexisting in the same environment. Moreover, bet you never thought they would do that in your own house.

There isn’t much information regarding this “design project”, so we cannot tell for sure how big that bird cage inside the aquarium is exactly. Or if we can put some other animals in that inner cage, like chickens, rabbits, and so on. Imagine how restless a cat would be, getting in the middle of all those fishes. However, this is a brave invention and it’s quite interesting to look at.

Now I remember that I’d seen before such aquariums in TV show called Cribs at MTV. A guy had designed an aquarium-table for the dining room. And he put there red and big fishes. I enjoyed that a lot. It’s a nice idea for passionates.
