Next Generation House is a concept thought of and created by Sou Fujimoto Architects. It was inspired by the Japanese mind game Jenga that involves tower building.

What you see in the pictures is a 13′x13′x13′ cube made out of cedar logs. This is also the reason why it strongly considered not to be eco-friendly.

However, due to its structure, the building allows you to be very creative when it comes to sleeping, eating and storing your stuff.

You have to admit the place doesn’t really inspire comfort, but since it is especially designed for a weekend out, maybe it will be happily embraced by some people.

This elegant looking clock comes from designer Jansen Lye.

No environment is unfit for The Rim clock. It can very well be placed in the living room, but it can also go in the kitchen or the bedroom.

However, telling the time will at first be a puzzler. But you’ll get used to it.

This giant faucet comes from Graff, a worldwide company with over 1000 employees.

Being 3 feet tall, it is bound to surprise you and your guests. But size isn’t all that this faucet has going for it. Its elegance and simplicity are some great assets also.

The handles are in complete tune with the design and can be placed wherever you want.

Doorbells And Keyboards

Thursday

Now you can personalize your front door with these lovely and pleasantly strange doorbells.

Both products in the pictures belong to designer Li Jianye, and in my opinion make for some really creative design ideas. What computer owner wouldn’t like to have an enter key inviting their guests over like that anyway? And if you have a piano inside your house, why not have one as a doorbell also?

How would your guests feel when they would come at your place and bump into a …gorilla? The girls in the picture don’t seem to feel bad about it, though. Maybe because it could be useful to have around and replace an armchair or a couch.

Designer Pichaya explains this as following: “To us, furniture should be an object that likes to be touched. It is something that you want to be with all day; like your favorite toy, or may be a really big and soft gorilla.”

Even though the pictures are full of young women and therefore the product is probably addressed to young bachelor men, you can rest assured that the huge plush toy would go great in the children’s room once it’s out of use.

This design belongs to Vicente Garcia Jiménez and is inspired by the designer’s home lands of Mancha, Spain. The wall sculpture is not randomly named “Fields”, as the shapes, lighting and shades tried to suggests exactly that: open fields filled with soft mixed colors.

The materials used built this lovely lighting designs are methacrylate and aluminium.

“Fields”was created for Foscarini. You can visit the site and admire other similar products.

Bed With Hidden Storage Place

Tuesday
Sep 2,2008

The Chaise-Longue CL2 is a part of the Future Furniture Series, an office of industrial design in Munich.

This is not your usual hide-all-the-stuff-you-don’t-need-under-it-bed, but a modern, classy place to rest with plenty of storage space at your reach.

Unfortunately we do not know the specifications, but assuming the magins won’t be a problem in your sleep, this may just be a great bed. The combination of colors is also well picked.

Alien Lamps

Tuesday
Sep 2,2008

It’s like having a lot of tiny Caspers (the cartoon ghost?)  in your house. Some people may even enjoy that.

“Alien” is an out-of-this-world-looking lamp created by design studio Büro für Form and manufactured by Next.

Designers inform us that there are two different sizes and four variations available so you have where to choose from.

Tic Tac…Life Clock

Tuesday
Aug 26,2008

Designed by Bertrand Planes, the Life Clock’s lines represent the years that have passed since you were born.

Although the idea of having a clock showing you how much time you’ve lived is interesting, the thought of it kinda showing you how much more time you have left is not.

Two questions: Can you make your alarm go off at a certain age? And why does it stop at 84 anyway?

This miniature bookcase can bring an elegant touch to your room. It is created by F. Akasaka, a design company in Lisbon, Portugal.

In the picture below the sphere is situated next to other round items (the image is actually taken in a showroom), but this doesn’t have to apply to all interiors. It can sit freely and fashionable in any decor.
