A Furniture First

In the rate technology is going, this floating bed shouldn’t surprise you. And yet…
This futuristic piece of work comes from Dutch architect Janjaap Ruijssenaars. It’s very expensive but this is what it gets for being ahead of its time. This out of the ordinary bed can actually stay about one feet off the ground do to magnets that repel each other with a strong force.
If this goes on, by the end of the century everything might be floating in your house, so prepare yourselves.

While this has to be almost the coolest thing since opposable thumbs, one has to wonder what laying atop powerful magnets will do to your body over time, yes?
BTW I love your site and bookmarked it. Very nice collection here.
Thanks for your appreciation. Also you can subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks again!
Wow, I remember that. TIME named it one of the best inventions of 2006
Another passing thought… what happens if you lean against the bed (or use it for recreational purposes) does it float horizontal? Might you wake up in the kitchen?
I really enjoy your site as well!
Cheers. Michael
@ harley warren
yes, one has to wonder.
but then again, one has to wonder of all those dastardly mobile phones and computers and so on and so forth.
i wonder what *the guy*who invented the opposable thumb has to say about this: )
