Sleeping Capsule

This is from Ushida Findlay Architects, UK.

The crazy looking sleeping capsule is made out of PVC and it’s supposed to show -ok, it really does- the potential that PVC has as a design material.

This is inflatable so when you aren’t sleeping, it is very easy for it to be packed and stored in a small place somewhere.

No wonder they say creativity is everywhere.

PVC? Is that safe? What makes the PVC flexible? Phthalates? What about pollutants created by manufacture of vinyl chloride?

  2. Dena says:

Great comment, Mike. I was just going to say PVC isn’t such a great plastic to use…probably one of the worsts. Try another material.

    ahh I want this!

  4. madeline says:

oh and even if it is a bad material you have to admit it’s cool

  5. H says:

Yeah, it looks cool, but pvc off-gasses forever, and that’s just unnecessary air pollution. Why would you want to breathe toxins just to have something that looked “cool?”
