Be careful with removing popcorn ceilings…

You bought a new home in an old building. The first thing that catches your eyes is the dust in the popcorn ceiling. You thought of remodeling so, it MUST go! The question is how? Yes, you can be brutal, grab your sander and do a massacre. Well, good thing you didn’t and instead read this article first.

Asbestos is a frequently used substance used in old buildings for insulation, decoration or other purposes. It’s very contaminant and you wouldn’t want to inhale it weeks after sanding. Find out whether your walls contain asbestos by taking a sample to a local lab. If they do, you have a problem and it is recommended you hire professionals to deal with it. If you get a green sign, feel free to “demolish” your ceiling. Or, if you want a minimum of damage, again, I suggest professionals who usually finish of both problems in one day. And it’s not too expensive either.
