Fluid Rocker, The Way to Relax

fluid_rocker_01

Feel free to slip into sweet meditation with these comfortable and colorful rockers.

And because no one can describe the Fluid Rocker better than the designer himself, here is a statement from Nick Trincia:

“My entry for the RELAX Design Competition is one of the most relaxing of all pieces of furniture, a rocking chair. The Fluid Rocker’s soft curves and ergonomic form make it as inviting to look at as it is to sit in. The chair’s flowing organic shape is achieved through a one piece fiber glass construction with a high-gloss finish. For added comfort and texture, a layer of soft natural felt wraps over the entire outer face of the chair. On the upper side of the chair, the felt provides added cushion for sitting, while on the underside of the chair it provides for quieter, softer rocking, and protection for your floors.”

USA Bookshelf

timothy_taylor_gallery_new_works_ron_arad_yatzer_9

Design from Ron Arad 2009 Associates and Timothy Taylor Gallery, London.

Made from Corten and mirror-polished stainless steel, this bookshelf is truly impressive considering the design idea that stood behind it.

With each state for a shelf, you may find yourself not having enough stuff to place in this miniature library.

For more information you can contact the designers here.

More Storage Space with Lotto Coffee Table

loto-coffee-table-1_xodao_58

Magazines, huge headsets, CDs, there are almost no limitations to what can fit in this apparently small coffee table.  Even though it is practical and can help you keep things clean, the design is strikingly elegant and appealing.

Puzzle Table

There is something fascinating about puzzles, whether they are in the classical form of a game or in any other.

This is a great example about how puzzles fit in design: a cocktail table, part of the  Puzzle Collection and produced by Patou Design.

What is especially stunning about this furniture item is its versatility. Notice how it can be used as three separate tables or as one table “made” by two pieces tide together using the help of glass.

You can read more reviews about this table here and purchase it here.

Strange Looking Writing Desk

Curved and dynamic, this interesting writing desk is a part of a design collection from Ritter Furniture.

Easily mistaken for a piano or a giant spider, it is hard to imagine how this piece of furniture could be used as a writing desk. However,  considering all the shelves and the storage space for small objects, why not give it a go?

“Out-of-the-Box” Bookcases

We happened to run into these really interesting design ideas for bookshelves.

First off, we have the “Spiderweb Bookcases“, an amazing combination of lines and shapes, giving the impression of a spider building his web.  A very practical mix of lines, shapes and storing spaces.

The other design that caught  our eye is this lovely circular “library”.  It is meant for books, but also for sitting. However,  we have some second thoughts about the latter – there’s  basically nothing to lean on. Not a problem though, considering the creativity of the design.

Furry Furniture

Admit it, it’s very hard for you to imagine actually taking a sit in it. It seems so …shredded and fragile. However, the chair has an impressive “design background”.

The chair was designed by Architect/Designer Charles Kaisin from Brussels and it is a manifest for Ecology.

The design was first presented on September 2007 at the Maison&Object fair in Paris.

Carry Your Books Wherever You Go

casa4

Desiged by  Livio De Marchi, what you see in the pictures  is a house not built with your everyday construction materials, but with wood. Paper, to be more exact. Neah, still wood (got a little carried away with an idea we found here, about how life would be living in a house completely made out of books).

You can visit Livio de Marchi Virtual Museum for some more fascinating wood designs.
