Milkit by Play Design

Not too long after our Milky Way Outdoor Chandelier post, I ran into an article about a very similar product, only that this time you get to do it yourself.

Milkit is a …kit made by Alexandru Adam and Steven Koch at Play Design and its “job” is to help you turn a bunch of milk bottles into amazing chandeliers such as this one.

Lamp Made out of Latex Gloves

1d09ffb71da98d9666884e1f7b23f270-orig.jpg

This is one for the do-it-your-self section. What you see in the picture below is a bunch of inflated latex gloves with several light-bulbs inside.

Made by Katarina Britse at Beckman’s College of Design, this chandelier is something relatively easy to do in the comfort of your own house, considering you have a thing for surgical gloves and a system to keep them inflated all the time.

A Merry Berry Christmas from Fruit Like Flowers

Christmas, a time of joy and especially… eating. Fruit Like Flowers thought about everything. They have created some mouthwatering, delightful hand made arrangements with an unique design.

Christmas Tree

Filled with fresh strawberries, pineapples, grapes, oranges, apples, cantaloupe, honeydew and water melon pieces, these arrangements are an innovative way to say: “Merry Christmas”.

The only problem is that you can only order if you live within the South East of the UK. You can order directly from their website for a prices that varies between 20 and 70 pounds. But, there is also an alternative: try to make it yourself. It may not look as good as the original ones, but if made with love, they could be even tastier.

Packaging Furniture

Although it seems hard to believe that you will make more use of the packet that your TV came in than the TV itself, these images are the living prof that this is not a fantastic scenario.

The gray shelves in the pictures are the package that the TV came in. Useful, simple and quite good looking.

Don’t Let the Powercords to Ruin Your Design

For those that have a problem with wires of all kind I have found a wonderful solution. It comes from Oboiler.com and requires some picket fence specially designed to cover the wires.

Picket Fence

By sticking the picket onto the baseboard a little space is created for hiding the wires. Although this design can’t fit in any house, it can be adapted for your needs. Using the picket fence is very convenient because you don’t need to break the walls to hide the wires. Just solve it clean and easy!

Another DIY Battery Lamp

If you remember I presented once a DIY battery lamp idea. Now I am writing about the Mathmos 9 VOLTS LED Battery light, which I have found at Inhabitat.

Another DIY Battery Lamp

The 9 Volts lamp was at first a prototype design, and now has gone into mass production. The simple idea has attract many praises. You just need to clip the LED light to a 9 volt battery (supplied). The 9 Volts LED has also a tilt switch, stand up to turn on and lie down to turn off. The lamp works with regular or rechargeable batteries.

Currently the online store has a promo offer – 5 (3 Red and 2 Blue) 9 Volts for the price of 4, usually worth £65 but yours for only £52.

Do-it-yourself shaving

Razor

And I’m not talking about shaving your legs, or you beard. I didn’t think I’d live to see this day, but here it is: the day they actually invent a BACK shaving instrument. It looks like an ordinary razor blade, but it has an extensible handle for hard-to-reach places e.g. your back. Guess you can say goodbye to your wife having to help in, but again, back scrubs were also invented, but it’s still more fun to call in your wife for the “dirty work”. So let’s back up, the wonder shaver is called iShave (no relation, don’t ask me why) and it works with replaceable razors. It’s handle can be extended up to 60 cm so you have more than enough mobility. I wonder about it’s safety though, but that’s not my problem.
