Rolling Shelf

A flexible way to store things in your kitchen. The rolling shelving system allows really tall objects to be placed in your closet with no difficulties of “accommodation”.

How does it work? You can simply roll the shelves to make room for other objects. A  very practical idea from designer Catherine Greene.

Cube Storage Place For Books and Cd’s

“Pocket Library” by Ariel Jacubovich is an ingenious design idea for storing things like books, CD’s, old letters or jewelery. What you see in the picture above is an expanded “box”. When it is folded, the shape becomes a 21 inches (55 centimeters) cube.

The pocket library is equipped with handles so it is rather easy to carry around and it also has strings and little shelves to hold the books into place.

Halloween Food Designs

Since October 31 is near, we decided to tempt you with these spooky (well half spooky) food designs. Some of them are quite interesting, maybe even appealing. Spider Cakes, Eyeball Soup, Eerie Eyeballs, Eyeball Caprese and Monster Cupcakes (these last ones are kinda cute) are just a few of the dishes you can serve for Halloween.

You can find the recipes for these food “courses”  as well as for other Halloween dishes here. But be careful, some of them are pretty hard-core stuff.

Pillow For Flu Season

Flu is very annoying. All the fever and the runny nose can make one really frustrated. Especially when it comes to sleeping and well… not being able to.

We found this pillow being sold in an online shop called design3000. We liked it and we think it could come very handy in the flu season. No more desperately searching in the dark for that pack of Kleenex!

Multifunctional Table

“Da-Bloom” is designed by Jin-Young Lee and it can be looked at as a table with unlimited functions. You can eat on it, store certain objects, have children make their homework on it or even let them enjoy a good game of hide-and-sick. The design is simple yet very practical. “Da-Bloom” comes as a “packed” table, occupying little space and then unfolds itself in order to be properly used.

Electronic Faucet For Saving Water

Elettronico from FIMA – Carlo Frattini is a faucet that helps you control how much water you spend.

The control panel is easy to use and It has a few interesting functions. You can choose the temperature of the water and you can also preset the faucet to turn the water down at a certain time. This could mean that the bills will decrease their value and that you will be able to save a bit more with every passing day.

“Ray” Furniture

These furniture designs are very adaptable. Suitable for your living-room but also for your garden, they can be “interpreted” in a variety of ways and suit many purposes like being helpful when you have friends coming over. They are made of aluminum and have a great shape.

The tables and chairs in the images are a part of the Ray collection designed by Stefano Bigi by eXde by Cattaneo, the Italian manufacturer.

Amazing Ladder Bookcase

Here’s a great design idea that I haven’t seen being applied in any library. Book shelves that are also stairs. An easy way of getting the book you want. It’s just one of those designs that makes you wonder “why didn’t I think of that?”

If take a minute to ponder about it, it is not all that hard to build. You could even try to do it yourself, using some wood and some nails. Also works for categorizing CD’s. Nice!

Modern Fireplace For Small Interiors

The Curva Fireplace from Jan des Bouvrie looks like a burning modern phone. Okay, maybe not quite like that. But it has this incredible shape that seems to make you imediately asociate it with something.

It seems like the perfect decision when choosing a chimney for small interiors. Its mere sight can make one very warm.

Ex-iles, An Interactive Medium Between The Real World And The Virtual One

An interactive pool of 5 by 2 meters and only 20 cm deep, Ex-iles was designed by Naziha Mestaoui and Yacine Ait Kaci. The interactive pool is being exhibited at the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Seville starting this October.

The purpose of this project is to create a connection between the real world and the virtual one. It works as follows: when a “volunteer” steps on the “real island” (the white circle), signals are sent throughout the pool creating a game of shadows, lights and sounds (the response of the virtual world).
