Relax in your ecocube

Gardening lovers have the possibility to built their ecologic garden. The ecocube is a vertical garden made of cedar, and fits very well in your green corner behind your house. Ecospace architects have designed the ecocube garden. It is a do-it-yourself structure, easy to assemble. You can choose the size, the numbers of screens and planters. All you need to do is to let your imagination flow.

Ecocube garden

Besides being a oasis in your court, the ecocube garden has an aesthetic effect. I would love to have a coffee in front of my laptop inside the ecocube. I really like the idea and I am thinking seriously to build one at my grandma’s house.

Decorating felt rocks

What a curiosity?! Felt rocks?! Yes, the felt rocks are some decorating objects made from 100% pure wool felt, but solid. The idea of making these rocks came when felt balls of wool were created during an industrial process. Using the steam and pressure, the wool balls became solid with different forms like rocks. Each one takes on a unique shape. The felt rocks are manually dyed or left in natural shades of warm white and grey wool felt.

Felt rocks

Their size can vary from 4 to 6 inches. These rocks are used in decorating or for kids playing. Adults like them too, so don’t be shy if you would love to play with the felt rocks. I find the rocks quite interesting and I won’t mind to see them in my kid’s room.

Propellor’s new lighting releases

Thanks to my feedreader I have spotted, probably an unfinished article that was accidentally published by Inhabitat. It caught my attention because I saw the photo of an interesting lighting.

Propellor lamps

Propellor is Canadian design studio specialized in lighting design, furniture and interiors. Propellor participated at the HauteGREEN Exhibition last month. Today I will present you the lighting collection. The new pendant lamps are made of bamboo with walnut oil finish. They seems a little too large for an apartment, but in a large living they will inspire elegance. I also like that these lamps are eco-friendly. That would be a plus for Propellor. Below I have chosen some photos from their collection.

Decorating Ceramic TV

Today I found something interesting. Is a combination between the traditional Chinese art and the modern world technology. Ma Jun, a Chinese designer projected a pure decorating TV. Instead of giving you the best of the high-tech vision, the Ceramic TV has the only purpose of decorating your living. The decorating TV measures 38 x 27 x 25 cm and is made out porcelain. Ma Jun tried to give life to scenes from Chinese history. He presents motives of the traditional Chinese lifestyle.

The folding furniture

I have just found an interesting movie that I want to share with you. The German designer Nils Frederking presents in the movie his folding furniture project.

The most interesting concept would be that three-pieces table. It saves a lot of space in your living. You can view other folding furniture products on Nils Frederking’s website. Unfortunately, his page is written in German, so you just can view the products. However I like the idea even some voices said that furniture could be dangerous and could cause accidents. Congrats Nils!

Staircase Drawers

Did you ever think to utilize the space under your stairs? An Australian company came with the great idea of the staircase drawers. As you can see in the photo below, the staircase could be transformed in a real storage organizer. No more messy desks or fully storage boxes! Now you can store in style with under-the-staircase solution.

Staircase Drawers

Unfortunately, the producing company – Unicraft Joinery – does not have a website. However you can contact them at the phone ((03) 5572 5441) or at their offices in Australia (7-11 Ballarat Rd Hamilton VIC 3300). The staircase storage solution was presented in Vogue Living Australia’s Autumn/Winter 2007.

Who left the toilet seat up?

toilet seatNobody. Why? Because it comes down automatically. Yes, I know, men feel discriminated, but not to worry, with very little exercise, the toilet seat lifter can become unnoticeable. In a few days you’ll just walk in the bathroom and naturally place your foot on the pedal which lifts the toilet seat. When you lift your foot, it gently lowers back so no noise, no hits and no accidents, if you know what I mean. This is a dream for many ladies, I think, and a relief for a bunch of guys out there that are scolded on a daily bases for the lack of a habit. Personally, I think it’s not such a useful object, rather than a commodity, maybe that’s why the price isn’t so spectacular either. But that doesn’t make it cheap, nonetheless, I’ll hint you, it’s around $25 on Amazon.

Lost space

No, not the Universe, only the space and surfaces that are lost in your home. Well, no lost, only unused. When you move into a home, you have to find the place for everything. And no matter how much larger your home is than the last one, there never seems to be enough room for everything. This is because of the empty size of the rooms, people tend to put stuff rather aired through the house, an leave a lot of unused space behind. At first sight, you don’t see it because it either a small crack between a piece of furniture and the wall, or just a large space, hidden behind a small plant.

I often notice the space from under the staircases and almost always ask or study what it’s used for. Remember Harry Potter? He used to have a whole room under the stairs. Now, I don’t say you should punish your children that way, but this only shows that this is a rather large space that can be used for various things. In most of the cases I saw, the space underneath the staircase is unused, just paneled with carving and something put in front of it to fill the empty space IN FRONT of the staircase. Second place goes to closets, sport, coat or only shoes, it is a very used space for storage. The problem with this is that it’s outdated and a very used idea. Under smaller staircases I saw washing machines, doghouses, or in one case, a toilet (concealed, of course).

fridge_staicaseThis one thing I found in a picture looks something new, original and interesting, household appliances: fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, dryer or whatever you can think of. Just make sure they are front-loaded and fit in regarding both size AND color/style etc. Why waste space in the kitchen, especially if it’s the dining room as well. If it is close to the kitchen it’s even better to shorten the trip.
